The inadvertent dissolution of gangue minerals is frequently detrimental to the flotation of valuable minerals. We investigated the effect of conditioning time on the separation of brucite and serpentine by flotation. By analyzing the Mg 2+ concentration, relative element content, and pulp viscosity, we studied the effect of mineral dissolution on brucite flotation.

The experimental results showed that the titanium dioxide dissolution rate was 9.82% and alumina relative dissolution rate was 88.83% under the best dissolution conditions for dissolution temperature of 240°C, lime add volume of 4%, and ...
In the case of the digestion of gibbsitic bauxites at low temperature (LT, about 140–150 °C), gibbsite dissolves in about 1–3 min; the kaolinite also dissolves but at a somewhat slower rate. About 30–45 min retention time is required so that the dissolved silica content falls fairly closely to its equilibrium solubility.
Bauxite is the major raw material for alumina production, and its Al 2 O 3 grade improvement or desilication is a necessary process for production of high-grade alumina concentrates from bauxite ores. In practice, flotation presents an effective method for the processing of such ores.
The unique features of potash flotation include solubility of sylvite in water, the size of particles floated and fast kinetics. Particles up to 2.3 mm can be floated and about 50% of flotation feed can be removed in the rougher stage in few minutes. The main challenges in potash flotation are the recovery of potash from slimes, flotation ...

The extraction process ( digestion) converts the aluminium oxide in the ore to soluble sodium aluminate, NaAlO 2, according to the chemical equation : Al 2 O 3 + 2 NaOH → 2 NaAlO 2 + H 2 O This treatment also dissolves silica, forming sodium silicate : 2 NaOH + SiO 2 → Na 2 SiO 3 + H 2 O The other components of Bauxite, however, do not dissolve.
The invention discloses a dissolution method of bauxite flotation concentrate, and relates to improvement of an alumina production technique by dissolution of bauxite flotation concentrate by a Bayer process. The dissolution method is characterized in that a dissolution process sequentially comprises the following steps: (1), mixing heated alkali liquor flow with ore pulp flow; (2), heating ...
Diasporic bauxite with an A/S ratio of 5–6 can be increased to above 11 by flotation desilication [14, 15]. Biological desilication can deal with low-grade bauxite which was difficult to be treated by physical desilication and chemical desilication; it had the advantages of low cost and environmental friendliness [ 16 ].
Using microbially produced mixtures of oxalic and citric acid by the fungus Aspergillus niger, useful results regarding kaolinite destruction and silicon dioxide and bauxite dissolution have been obtained; partial dissolution of the contained boehmite and almost complete dissolution of hematite were also observed.
The Bayer process is the principal industrial means of refining bauxite to produce alumina (aluminium oxide) and was developed by Carl Josef Bayer.Bauxite, the most important ore of aluminium, contains only 30–60% aluminium oxide (Al 2 O 3), the rest being a mixture of silica, various iron oxides, and titanium dioxide. The aluminium oxide must be further purified before it can be refined ...
The Bayer process is a chemical process for refining aluminium hydroxide, Al(OH) 3 from bauxite; this aluminium hydroxide is subsequently calcined to produce alumina, Al 2 O 3.The basis of the Bayer process is an understanding of the characteristics of the sodium-hydroxide—sodium-aluminate solution relationship, namely its ability to keep sodium-aluminate in a dissolved state over a wide ...

1.1. Flotation of Bauxite Ores in Industry The first flotation plant for bauxite processing was installed in Zhongzhou, Henan Province, China. The ore contains 65% diaspore as the primary bauxite mineral with kaolinite, illite and pyrophillite as the gangue silicate minerals. A grinding circuit with cyclones reduces the ore size and eliminates
The method for producing alumina by adopting reverse floatation bauxite concentrate is characterized by that: a. using reverse floatation concentrate, lime milk and alkali liquor to prepare green orepulp; b. preheating ore pulp to 220 deg.C, making desilicification and titanium-removing reaction, then more heating to 260-280 deg.C, making insulation resolution for 30-90 min, in the insulation ...
ABSTRACT Bauxite ore is the primary mineral resource for the production of aluminum metal and includes gibbsite [Al(OH) 3], diaspore [α-AlO(OH)] and boehmite [γ-AlO(OH)]. Gangue minerals generally include iron oxides (Hematite [Fe 2O 3], Goethite [FeO(OH)]), silicates (quartz [SiO 2]), kaolinite [Al 2Si 2O 5(OH) 4] and others such as rutile/anatase [TiO 2].

Bauxite refinery residue (red mud) is a waste by-product generated by the extraction of alumina from bauxite ores [1-3]. Bauxite residue is generated through the Bayer process, which involves the digestion of bauxite ore using concentrated sodium hydroxide at elevated temperatures and pressures [1, 3, 4]. The residue is a hazardous

The process stages are: 1. Milling. The bauxite is washed and crushed, reducing the particle size and increasing the available surface area for the digestion stage. Lime and "spent liquor" (caustic soda returned from the precipitation stage) are added at the mills to make a pumpable slurry. 2.
The preparation of bauxite caused an increase in the alumina/silica mass ratio from 7.30 to 11.05. Subsequently, laboratory scale flotation tests were conducted to verify the reproducibility of the results indicated in the microflotation stage. Laboratory scale flotation tests were done in a Denver machine using a 900 mL cell.
